Wedding photographers Buffalo NY Wedding Tips for Brides

As wedding photographers in Buffalo, NY we’d like to offer some wedding tips for brides.

First and foremost, RELAX. No matter where you are in your planning process the worst thing you can do is stress. If at any point while planning you feel like your brain is about to explode or you want to give it all up and elope, stop what you’re doing, breathe, and remember that your wedding day is supposed to be joyous and the only people that really matter are you and your fiancé. If what you’re doing is causing you to question having a wedding at all, then you’re doing something wrong. Step back, reevaluate, and move on.

Here are a couple of tips to keep in mind from a wedding photographer’s perspective:

While Planning

  • Understand that you cannot control the weather; just embrace it, usually you can get even more emotional and fun photos than on a perfect sunny day
  • Assume everything will take longer than you think. Create a timeline with realistic expectations and allow for extra time if at all possible.
  • Create checklists, edit your lists, keep vendors up to date with changes. Here are some links to other helpful checklist resources: The Knot Checklist; Wedding Wire Checklist
  • Determine your budget, and do your best to stick to it. Here are a few tips to help: 5 Tips to Help Stick to a Wedding Budget
  • Make sure someone in your bridal party know how to bustle your dress!!

Wedding Day

  • Relax!
  • Take 5 min alone before the ceremony for yourself
  • Be understanding that something can/will go differently than planned
  • Take time during the reception to sit alone with your new spouse, give him a kiss, and tell him, “I love you.” (You’d be surprised how fast the day will go)
  • Have fun!

The wedding day will come and go before you know it. As you plan the day and are hiring vendors, remember to ask questions. If there’s something you don’t understand or are unsure about, make sure you let your vendor know beforehand, so that you’re not disappointed either on your wedding day or after the fact about their service. From a photography standpoint, make sure to let us know your timeline, if there are any “must have” images, or special moments/unique elements to the venue.
