Charles & Nora | The Lodge at Welch Allyn Wedding Photos
Congratulations to Nora and Charles who married this past weekend at The Lodge at Welch Allyn, Skaneateles Falls NY. It was a pleasure for Leah and I to spend this cool, late-summer’s day with this amazing Couple. Nora and Charles went to High School together, then re-connected a few years ago. It wasn’t long before they were in love. Charles shared their proposal story with us, and it’s truly romantic.
In his words, “Nora and I were on a family vacation in Nantucket. The trip was a week long and I waited until the very last day. If she had any thought that it was happening on the trip they were gone by day 2. Outside by the pool I whispered in her ear something really romantic and then I got down on my knee in the rain. She burst into tears instantly and I knew right then she would love me forever.”
Our day unfolded with ease. Hair/Makeup were underway when we arrived, and the guys were chilling in their “cave” well away from the action. The Lodge is big enough to accommodate both getting readies at the same time. While Nora was getting the last touches put on, I was able to take the guys outside for their portraits, then return for her slipping into the dress. The floor-to-ceiling windows on The Lodges’ main floor provided beautiful natural light, that I took full advantage of.
Nora and Charles decided to do a Fist Look, which allowed them to do family formals before the ceremony, thereby giving them the entire cocktail hour to spend with guests. This is the timeline I recommend to all our Couples, as it maximizes the amount of time they can spend with everyone throughout the day.
The sky was overcast for most of the day (which I love actually). I didn’t think we were going to have a true sunset because of this, but to my amazement, just as dinner was being served, the clouds broke up. I rushed over to Nora and Charles and said if they wanted sunset photos we only had about 5min before it was too late, and they graciously ran outside with us to catch the last rays. We capped off the night with a bit of dancing and said our goodbyes. Thank you again to Nora and Charles for inviting us to spend the day with you. We wish you all the best for the future!
