Kotecki’s Winter Wedding

Congratulations to Ryan and Bridget who married this weekend at St. Gabriel’s Church, with a reception following at Kotecki’s Grandview Grove, West Seneca, NY.  I first met with the happy Couple for their engagement session earlier this year.  It was snowing, so it was an appropriate precursor for their December wedding, and I became confident that they’d be up to the challenge of creatives in cold weather.  We had the chance to see each other again this fall for Bridget’s sister’s Wedding.  This was actually a great opportunity for Ryan and Bridget to see how Leah and I work and what to expect for their wedding day.

On the day of, Leah and I arrived for the getting readies with a rain/snow mix in the forecast.  Leah stayed to cover the girls, while I went to the guys, then returned for Bridget getting into her dress.  One aspect that I loved about the day was the fact that we had already worked with Bridget’s side of the family before.  They knew what to expect, and everyone was more relaxed, even with cameras everywhere.

As we drove to the church, the rain was transitioning to snow.  By the time Bridget walked down the aisle, there was already a winter wonderland taking shape outside.  After a lovely ceremony, we went directly to Kotecki’s for the reception.  By this point, we had about three to four inches of snow/slush on the ground.  We decided to do bridal party photos outside since all the girls had nice, warm (and may I say very elegant) jackets to wear.  The only issue was the snow melting on heads, so umbrellas were used.  Bridget and Ryan were real troopers, even trekking a bit further on the property for a different look to the photos.  I could have spent the rest of the evening outside, but everyone was cold and wet and we needed time to dry out before the guests arrived.

Eventually, day turned into night, speeches were made, dinner was served, and it was time to dance.  Neither Bridget nor Ryan were fond of the idea of being the center of attention during their first dance, but they graciously gave me a bit of time, and I’m very thankful.  Leah and I circled the dance floor for a bit, then said our goodbyes.  Thank you again to Ryan and Bridget for inviting us to be a part of your special day.  We wish you both all the best!
