Congratulations to Joe and Aleks who were married this past weekend at St. Joseph’s Cathedral with a reception following at the Hotel @ The Lafayette, Buffalo, NY. I first met up with Joe and Aleks last year for their engagement session. Theirs was a very touching, classical love story. From high-school sweethearts, they remained together long distance thru college before meeting back up again in Cleveland and eventually moving back to Buffalo. After spending the morning with both Guys and Girls separately for the getting readies, we made our way to St. Joseph’s for the ceremony. Every time I photograph at the Cathedral I take a moment to appreciate the architecture. This truly is a magnificent space to work in. Next, the family formals….they had a rather extensive list, so I was doubtful of sticking to our timeline. However, Aleks surprised me in the morning with a numbered list (in the order we’d discussed), listing all the family member’s names. Everyone had already received this list and had been instructed to remain in their seats until their number was called. I…was…floored! I always speak in depth about the family formals to all my Brides, but they never seem to be organized on the day-of. The long list went off without a hitch, and no one started yelling or fighting and we stayed on-time….. this equals one happy photographer (other Brides please take note)! After, we made our way over to The Lafayette for the reception. As the wedding party was lining up to be introduced, I noticed one couple had changed in appearance from that afternoon….I couldn’t quite put my finger on what had happened but I was sure something was up. As Joe and Aleks made their way into the ballroom the party was officially started! This was a dancing crowed, and I was kept entertained for the rest of the night. A few quick creatives here and there and my time was up. Thank you again to Joe and Aleks for inviting me to be a part of your special day. I wish you both all the best for the future!
