Congratulations to Frank and Holly who married this weekend at the Inn at Glenora, Dundee, NY.  Leah and I first met this lovely Couple last year for their engagement session in Penn Yan, NY.  It was one of the rare “Sunrise” sessions we’ve done over the years, and it was amazing!  Holly was able to ride one of her favorite horses and we incorporated grape vines and Keuka Lake into the session.  We couldn’t wait to work with them again and complete the experience by photographing the wedding day itself.

Fast forward to last weekend.  If someone had spoken to me a year ago about the weather in the Finger Lakes, I would have said mid-summer is hot, but bearable.  This particular day I ate my words. Or should I say, “Sweat” my words.  It was the hottest day on record, reaching into the 100s with dewpoint.  I usually give my Couples a pep talk, asking them to literally “grin and bear it” when it’s hot, but even I was questioning my sanity this day.  We did our best to keep everyone in the shade and spend as little time outside as possible.

Frank and Holly were wonderful.  They accepted the heat for what it was.  After a brief ceremony, which incorporated their beloved dog Dexter, we all retreated to the Inn for cocktails and dinner.  As the sun was setting, we took Frank and Holly into the vines for more photos, then released them to enjoy the rest of the evening with family and friends.  It was still a bit too warm for comfort well into the night, but their guests soldiered on.  Thank you again to Frank and Holly for inviting us to share this journey with them.  We can’t wait to share the rest of the images and we wish you all the best for the future!
