It was a hot and muggy summer’s day in July for Scott and Lana’s Engagement Session. We began at the Rose Garden, in Delaware Park, near Hoyt Lake. The intermittent clouds created a wonderful atmosphere for the couple. The park was full of people; an acrobatic group practicing their moves, a dance class moving to the beat under the pergola, a drum group down by the lake, kids in the playground and runners doing laps. Scott and Lana brought their “Puppy” Mouse, a fairly large, not even a year old, Black Lab/Great Dane mix.

We slowly made our way further into the wooded area of the park, using the sun as a backdrop. I moved them over to the stone bridge, one of my go-to favorite spots, and LOVED the results. As they began to relax and get into the mood of the shoot, I could really feel the love between them, and eventually, it was almost like I wasn’t even there…….maybe not, but they were good sports.

We took a brief sojourn by the lake; I even climbed an apple tree, and got some great shots as the sun was reflecting on the water. Next stop, Canal Side! It was a perfect night, not too hot and there was a slight breeze to take away the humidity. I thought it would be great if I could get them up onto one of the Skyway pylons for a frame shot of the city skyline, and after a brief cop check, they hopped right up and I got a great shot! Scott and Lana have been a pleasure to work with so far and I can’t wait for their wedding day….. I wonder what other crazy things I can get them to do..…hmmmmm?
