Buffalo NY has many great locations to offer for your Engagement Session. When choosing a location for your session, there are some factors to keep in mind:
First, do you want a natural, urban or industrial look for the photos? If you want more than one, you need to think about places relatively close to each other, so as to not waste valuable time driving between locations.
Next, pick places that mean something to you and your fiancé. This can range from where you met, where he/she proposed, a favorite vacation spot etc., just keep it personal. Also, if you have access to rooftops, non-public areas in hotels/museums etc. these spots make for great images too.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
- The weather: Here in Western New York, summers are HOT and winters are unpredictable. Plan on giving yourself enough leeway for rescheduling in case of bad weather.
- Clothing Choices: Think about what you’ll be wearing when you have your pictures taken and is it appropriate for the season. The session will take approximately two hours, with up to two outfit changes, and we’ll be shooting in the evening to capture some nice sunset shots. Keep your outfits complementary, stick to neutral colors, no big logos and stay away from being too matchy matchy. For women, heels can look amazing, but you’ll be walking A LOT (on grass, thru mud, up and down hills), so keep this in mind and maybe opt for flats or wedges. Any location near water will involve wind, so having your hair up or, at the very least, having a ponytail holder is advisable.
At the end of the day, the engagement session is a wonderful gift for yourself. You’re celebrating a big moment in your lives, and while the wedding day is the most important, it’s also a source of a lot of stress and anxiety because you are including family and friends in the moment. The engagement session is all about just the two of you. It’s a couple of hours that you have together to show your love for one another that’s just for you, with no other expectations or concerns. So, treat yourself, have fun and congratulations again on your engagement!
